Description

Shades Music first opened in December 2007, in the heart of Moseley village, by Chris Poole & his partner Victoria Tromans. They happily agreed that Moseley was a good spot for the music shop as Moseley is famously known for a variety of musicians from UB40 to Ocean Colour Scene. So far the locals in Moseley all seem very grateful they now have a music shop on their doorstep and with the wide variety of sheet music & books it’s now a very popular up growing business.

Unbeknown to Chris & Victoria the building of their premises has history they were unaware of when taking on the lease. The address has already achieved fame as it was once the home of Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkien.

Once taking on the lease various members of the community came into the shop to tell the pair about there old flat owner, Chris & Victoria laughed it off until they opened their first delivery……

As Victoria unpacked her first boxes of new music books ready for the grand opening of the shop, she was stunned when the first book to come out of the box was a Lord Of The Rings sheet music book. It was not only on the top of the pile but directed a different way on the stock of books to all the other books.

Chris Poole the manager started off in business at the age of 14 when he formed a band Chris Poole & the Shades. His band has had a varied line up through the years but is now a very successful 5 – 10 piece band. Having travelled to Dubai and east Africa. And now the bands incredible story looks like getting even more exciting with the prospect of playing at the Beijing Olympics later this year.
Victoria Tromans also has a very successful business under her shell as well; she’s a qualified and professional dance teacher who teaches at various schools throughout the midlands.
