Gretsch Drums
Gretsch produce
some of the worlds finest drums and have a long and interesting
history. Gretsch was founded by Friedrich Gretsch when he created a
small shop in Brooklyn in 1883, only to die a few short years later,
sadly he would never seen the beginnings of the legacy he had created.
The young Fred Sr took over the helm and started forging a business
from the foundations laid by his relative, and the brand quickly became
synonymous with precision and quality. Only two short decades after
taking over the Gretsch company he had migrated them from a small
operation to a huge 10 story building in Brooklyn, where the company
would remain until they moved to Ohio in the early 70's.
Fred
Gretsch Sr retired in 1942 and both of his sons took up leadership of
the family firm, both having been active members of the business since
1927. The age of the electronic guitar saw the company forge ahead in a
new and enterprising direction and Gretsch quickly earned a name for
itself as an innovative company who embraced new technologies. Soon
ownership of the firm fell on the shoulders of Fred Gretsch Jnr, and he
too was able to forge ahead and create new successful chapters in the
pages of the companies history books. By embracing the age of rock Fred
Gretsch Jnr ensured the company continued to live up to its flawless
reputation. Since then the firm has gone from strength to strength and
supplies some of the finest quality musical instruments in the industry.
