Pearl Drum Kit Shops

Pearl Drums were founded by Katsumi Yanagisawa who created the company to craft music stands in the Sumida district of Tokyo in 1946. It was not until 1950 when Katsumi decided to shift his focus onto the creation of drum equipment that we recognise today from this most famous of brands was born. This proved a successful venture and by 1953 Pearl Drums were able to craft drum kits, timpani, marching drum equipment, latin percussion, cymbals, stands and accessories. In 1957 Katsumi's eldest son joined Pearl Drums and formed a division that was dedicated to exporting the companies products onto the worldwide market. This resulted in the creation of a new factory in Chiba, Japan to meet increased demand.

Many drums are produced under the name Pearl including Maxwin, Crest, Revelle, Lyra, Majestic, Whitehall, Apollo, Toreador, Roxy and Coronet. In 1965 the company formed a plan to bring the name of Pearl Drums to the forefront of the percussion industry. To accomplish this they installed the latest automated equipment to increase production and develop new products to be equal or better to other leading drums on the market. Pearl Drums also established a second factory in Taiwan and established a world-wide sales network. Throughout the 1970's through to the present day Pearl have created many innovative drum kits using new ideas and techniques.
